SkodaAuto India’s total sales for August 2010 stood at an impressive 1511 units. Skoda has registered impressive growth in this year riding on the success of Skoda Superb and New Skoda Laura.

Skoda has launched a new Fabia 1.2 petrol version in three variants – Active, Classic and Ambiente, attractively priced from Rs 4,86,795 lakh to Rs 5,80,174 lakh (ex-showroom Thane.)

The new Fabia comes with 1198 cc petrol engine with High Torque Performance (HTP), which notably enhances fuel economy & ensures low emissions. It sports a 1.2 litre engine with 4-valves per cylinder and a double overhead cam (DOHC). The vehicle will have dual airbags, rear wash & wipe and collapsible steering wheel as standard features. The Fabia 1.2 MPI is engineered to deliver high standards of performance, drivability and ride comfort to meet growing customer expectations in the market.

The Fabia has been well accepted in the Indian market and has sold over 3500 units till April 2008. The target sales of Fabia product line is 10,000 units for 2008 wherein the share of Fabia 1.2 MPI is slated at 40%. ŠkodaIndia is confident to surpass the annual target of 25000 units.

The new Fabia is not just nice to look at on the outside, it also offers some pretty interesting design cues — many of them borrowed from the Roomster MPV—in the interiors as well. It’s bigger than its earlier version and offer more bootspace too, all of which should go down well with its Indian customers. Given how well Skoda’s diesel models have done in India, the Fabia should give some serious competition to the Swift diesel.

Although there are no confirmations yet, it is likely that the Fabia will be priced in the Rs 5-6 lakh range, pitting it against not just the super mini brigade of Swift, Getz and U-VA but also the lower end of the mid-size sedan market where the Mahindra Renault Logan and Chevy Aveo are pegged.

Premium carmaker Skoda India today launched a new variant of its luxury sedan Superb at a price of Rs 20.41 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), nearly Rs two lakh lower than the existing variant Superb Elegante diesel. The new variant ‘Superb Comfort’ is the third upgrade on Superb. It has been priced lower than the existing model which is sold at Rs 22.29 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) to boost sales during the upcoming festive season.

The company said the new variant of Superb has been introduced in response to the growing demand for advanced customisation in the existing variant of the car. This automatic variant of Skoda Superb Comfort is powered by a 2.5 litre TDi engine and would sport various safety features such as airbags, rain sensors, ABS, climate control AC among others. The company also sell a 2.8 litre petrol engine powered Superb.
