With high power comes the true driving experience. Keeping in mind this very thought, Fiat India today unveiled its latest offering in the premium hatchback segment: the Fiat Grande Punto 90HP MULTIJET. Armed with a 1.3 litre Multijet engine, powered by a Variable Geometry Turbocharger, the car will be India’s most powerful diesel hatchback.

Already setting the standard with its gorgeous looks and style, the Grande Punto 90 HP MULTIJET is poised to power through the competition and create a new benchmark for diesel hatchbacks in India. The Punto 90 HP MULTIJET’s engine will provide drivers with ‘class leading’ power of 93 PS and torque of 209 NM along with excellent drive dynamics – Ride, Handling, Braking and also superior fuel efficiency of 20km / l. The 1.3 litre MULTIJET engine, a validation of Fiat’s technological prowess, is also the only ‘locally produced’ Variable Geometry Diesel engine in this category.

To make the driving experience even more fun, the Grande Punto 90HP MULTIJET comes equipped with Dual Stage Airbags, ABS with EBD, Automatic Climate Control, Blue & Me technology, Integrated CD/MP3 player with USB, Alloy wheels with the widest tyres (in the category), Chrome plated door handles, swanky Red stitching on the seats, and a host of other exciting and new age features.

Customers will also have a choice of personalisation through a special accessory pack for the Punto 90 HP that includes a Rear Spoiler, Chrome Exhaust Tip, Stylish Body Decals, Sporty Aluminium Pedals, Leather Seat Covers & Punto branded Door Sill. This accessory pack shall provide discerning customers a ‘sporty feel’, along with the opportunity to stand out in the crowd.

One more good news for mileage lovers that is Fiat India plans to launch a new CNG fuel technology with Palio. Before some time back Fiat had launched a Multijet Engine with Palio & the same engine is using in Maruti Swift; really both hatchback are giving a better mileage to owners & they saving more money with a good driving.

"We will launch the CNG variant of the Palio by early next year," Fiat India president and CEO Rajeev Kapoor told reeporters here today. The car is currently available in both petrol and diesel variants.

The company has also planned a slew of car launches in the next 12 months starting with the introduction of '500' next month.

It will unveil 'Linea' in September and 'Grande Punto' early next year. The 'Grande Punto' will come with a "price differential" than the existing cars in its segment.

"The 'Grande Punto' is a bigger car than others in its segment so there will be a price differential," Kapoor said.

However, he declined to give further details about the pricing of the car.

Other cars in that segment currently are Maruti's Swift, Hyundai's Getz and GM's U-VA. The base model of swift is around Rs 4 lakh ex-showroom in Delhi.

While '500' would be imported as completely built units from Italy, 'Linea' and 'Grande Punto' would be manufactured in the company's Ranjangaon facility in Maharashtra.


Fiat India Automobiles Pvt Ltd, today launched the latest Palio Stile with the much awaited multijet diesel engine at an event held here today. The Palio Stile is the current car from Fiat's stable in India which is currently available in 2 petrol versions - 1.1L and 1.6L Sport. The company, a joint venture between Fiat and Tata Motors, is simultaneously strengthening the Tata-Fiat network of dealers to ensure good after-sales support for the car owners.


Speaking on the occasion Mr. Rajeev Kapoor, CEO, Fiat India Automobiles Pvt Ltd said, “Fiat has kept its promise of making this an exciting year for its customers. Launch of the Palio Stile multijet version is first in the line of many exciting launches lined up by Fiat through this year. With this car which is equipped with Fiat's world-renowned multijet technology we hope to make further inroads in the B segment. Fiat's multijet engine is being produced under licence by other manufacturers and it has proved its mettle in the cars launched internationally and in India. The success of this engine can be attributed to the fact that it is a powerful yet fuel efficient engine which is perfect for Indian conditions.”


The fuel efficient yet powerful Palio Stile multijet will come with a 4 cylinder multijet diesel engine- from FPT- Fiat Power train Technologies providing a maximum power of 75 PS @ 4000 rpm and excellent Torque of 184 Nm at a low rpm of 2000. This enables a fine balance of performance, refinement & fuel economy. The car will come with a manual Gear Box 5 + R, all speed synchromesh and a front wheel drive.


The Palio Stile Multijet will be available in 5 exciting colors - Furnace red, Magnesium grey, Ozone blue, Mint White and Carbon black, across 3 versions – SD, SDE & SDX. The car will be manufactured at the Ranjangaon plant near Pune and is the first major launch after the company introduced the Palio Stile last year. The car is being launched across India through an aggressive communication campaign through Print & Television.

Tata, Fiat buyers to get free fuel

Tata Motors has tied up with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (HPCL) to offer free petrol or diesel worth Rs 10,000 to buyers of Tata or Fiat cars in New Delhi.


“This offer allows new car customers who purchase Tata or Fiat cars to avail free fuel for up to one year,” Tata Motors said in a statement.


The promotional offer - valid in Delhi and the National Capital Region - starts today and ends on March 25.


The offer will be provided in the form of a pre-loaded HPCL “Club HP smart 1” card, usable at select HPCL outlets.


“Customers will also enjoy the benefits of the HPCL Loyalty Card Programme on purchases of products and services at these outlets,” the statement said.


Tata Motors and Fiat have a tie-up for sharing the dealership network. Tata Motors has been facing declining sales in recent times due to product fatigue. In December, Tata’s passenger car sales dropped 13 per cent to 14,316 units on a year-on-year basis.


Apart from the Safari sports utility vehicle, which reported a growth in sales, the Indica, Indigo and Sumo models saw double digit dip in sales.


Indigo sales dropped by 33 per cent in December. Cumulative sales of passenger vehicles during April-December were down 3.7 per cent at 151,136 units as well.


Shares of Tata Motors today closed at Rs 658.85 on the National Stock Exchange, up 1.22 per cent from the previous close.
