Hyundai launched Accent CNG

After hike of fuel prices the all reputed makes have given relaxation to buyers by launched new fuel engines like Tata Indica V2 Xeta LPG, Maruti 800 LPG and now Hyundai Motor India on Monday launched the CNG (compressed natural gas) variant of its mid-size sedan Accent. It means Accent buyers need to pay cost Rs. 56,500 extra money from the normal Petrol version which priced at Rs. 4.99 lakh (ex-showroom). It has dual fuel (petrol and CNG) as option & currently Accent will be available in the National Capital Region - Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida and Ghaziabad.

By The Financial Express, HMIL has tied up with the leading CNG kit supplier CEV of Korea which will supply all the components of the CNG fitment. The kit is not only safe but with an advanced Lambda control system ensures that it meets the Euro III emission norms. To ensure that there are no flaws in the fitment process, HMIL has an exclusive arrangement with leading fitment specialist CEV to retro fit the kits on the Accent model. Initially, the CNG Accent will be launched in Delhi and the NCR areas and all Hyundai dealers in Delhi and NCR, in collaboration with CEV India, are equipped to sell and service the CNG Accent.

The CNG Accent would have a manual selector switch, which would enable the driver to easily switch from gasoline to CNG and vice versa. The on-board CNG cylinder has a capacity of approximately 12 kg and the running cost on CNG for the Accent is estimated to be in the region of Rs 1.15 km or even less depending on the driving cycle. This leads to a savings of almost 60-70% for the consumer.

Commenting on the introduction of the CNG Accent, HS Lheem, Managing Director, HMIL said: "The Accent has been one of our best selling models ever since its launch. Offering it with a CNG kit will only add to its appeal as it will not only be cheaper to run but also eco friendly. The Accent has always been a very strong product in its segment and with the CNG variant our customers would find it a really attractive proposition as it has all one can look for in this class of cars." The Accent had recently been approved by DGS&D for use by both the Central and state government departments.

One more good news for mileage lovers that is Fiat India plans to launch a new CNG fuel technology with Palio. Before some time back Fiat had launched a Multijet Engine with Palio & the same engine is using in Maruti Swift; really both hatchback are giving a better mileage to owners & they saving more money with a good driving.

"We will launch the CNG variant of the Palio by early next year," Fiat India president and CEO Rajeev Kapoor told reeporters here today. The car is currently available in both petrol and diesel variants.

The company has also planned a slew of car launches in the next 12 months starting with the introduction of '500' next month.

It will unveil 'Linea' in September and 'Grande Punto' early next year. The 'Grande Punto' will come with a "price differential" than the existing cars in its segment.

"The 'Grande Punto' is a bigger car than others in its segment so there will be a price differential," Kapoor said.

However, he declined to give further details about the pricing of the car.

Other cars in that segment currently are Maruti's Swift, Hyundai's Getz and GM's U-VA. The base model of swift is around Rs 4 lakh ex-showroom in Delhi.

While '500' would be imported as completely built units from Italy, 'Linea' and 'Grande Punto' would be manufactured in the company's Ranjangaon facility in Maharashtra.


Toyota Bharat is going to launch CNG variants soon of its Premium Sedan Corolla and Multi-Utility Vehicle Innova. The Corolla and Innova will be the first ever CNG fuel based offering by the Japanese major in the world. The company is currently testing various types of CNG kits on these Innova and corolla at its Bangalore based facility. Really it will be a big advantage of Toyota because today mileage is the best thing which is attracting to buyers.
